Under the slogan #Meetingsmetter, the GMID 2023 National Meeting Industry Day was held at the Novotel hotel in Warsaw. The event was combined with the Vistula Compasses gala, a competition for graduates of the Vistula School of Tourism and Hospitality.

The winner of this year’s edition in the Manager category was Mateusz Lewandowski. In the Entrepreneur category, distinctions were awarded to Agata Pemberton and Dominika Polus-Dąbrowska.

The Vistula Compasses were awarded for the fourth time. The Vistula School of Tourism and Hospitality distinguishes its best graduates who have achieved significant success in their professional careers related to hospitality in the broadest sense, in sectors such as tourism, HORECA, the meetings industry, and sports management. The Vistula Compasses were initiated by the SGTiH Vistula Business Council, which includes entrepreneurs from the tourism industry and industry journalists. The competition jury consists of representatives of the Business Council and the university.

In this year’s edition of the competition, in the Manager category, partnered by the Polish Chamber of Commerce for the Hotel Industry, the jury selected three finalists. They are: Mateusz Lewandowski, Sales Director for Poland, Louvre Hotels Group, Nadzeya Melnik, Incentive Manager at United Partners, and Katarzyna Melnyk, Senior Convention Sales Manager, Crowne Plaza Warsaw – the HUB and Holiday Inn Express Warsaw – the HUB. The winner was Mateusz Lewandowski, a graduate of Tourism and Recreation, where he chose to specialize in Organization and Management in Hospitality and Gastronomy.

In the Entrepreneur category, partnered by MPI Poland International Association of Meeting Organizers, the awards went to Agata Pemberton, who is now co-owner of Kos, European Bartender School, and Dominika Polus-Dąbrowska, mental coach at the company bearing her name. Both women are graduates of the Business Event Organization and Management specialization in the Tourism and Recreation program.

The Vistula School of Tourism and Hospitality recognizes people who can use the knowledge and skills they have acquired during their studies, communicate effectively, recognize changes and predict trends, and who are passionate about what they do. These are the qualities that distinguish the winners of the Vistula Compasses. They are the best ambassadors of the university and can show the way to others.

During the gala, the Rector’s Awards were also presented for contribution and commitment to the implementation of the development strategy and the functioning of the University.

The first-degree awards went to: Dr. Teresa Skalska, Prof. SGTiH Vistula, Dr. Joanna Kalecińska, and Dr. Ewa Gondek.

The second-degree awards were given to: Dr. Piotr Kociszewski, Magdalena Markiewicz, and Ewa Łappa.
