The meetings and events industry plays a key role in the Polish economy, as confirmed by the latest results of the report “Poland Events Impact 2023 – The economic impact of the meetings industry on the Polish economy.” The report, which summarizes comprehensive research on the economic significance of meetings and events organized in Poland, reveals the industry’s significant contribution to job creation, gross value added, and GDP growth. The results put the meetings industry in the spotlight, highlighting its important role in reviving the economy and building Poland’s strong position on the international stage.

Key findings of the study
The results of the study are impressive. The contribution of the meetings industry to job creation amounted to 215,000, which is a significant part of the total number of jobs in the Polish economy. The number of participants in meetings and events exceeded 18 million, which proves the considerable interest in this type of event among both Polish residents and foreign visitors. The average duration of an event was 1.7 days, which indicates the dynamism and diversity of the events organized,” summarizes Prof. Krzysztof Celuch, originator of the study and owner of Celuch Consulting.
Impact on the economy
The gross value added generated by the meetings industry exceeded PLN 22.9 billion, which is a significant contribution to the development of the country’s economy. The estimated contribution of the meetings industry to GDP is approximately 1%, and the total contribution of meetings and events to the Polish economy in 2023 exceeded PLN 54.6 billion, which highlights the scale of the industry’s impact on the country’s overall development.
The development of the region depends largely on the skilful use of its potential, and the meetings and events industry plays a key role in this process, having a significant impact on the economic development and promotion of our province. The Mazovia Regional Tourist Organization, within which the Mazovia Convention Bureau operates, constantly strives to support and promote this industry in order to attract more and more events and initiatives that contribute to the development of Mazovia, emphasizes Izabela Stelmańska, President of the Mazovia Regional Tourist Organization.
The analysis carried out for the “Poland Events Impact 2023” report also showed growth and development of the meetings industry compared to previous years, despite various challenges and limitations. This indicates the resilience and potential of this sector, which can be an important driver of the country’s economic development.

The report ” Poland Events Impact 2023 – The economic impact of the meetings industry on the Polish economy”, which was prepared by a scientific and industry team led by Celuch Consulting under the auspices of the Events Industry Council, in cooperation with representatives of Polish regions, venues where meetings and events take place, and meeting organizers, is the third document of this type prepared for Poland.
The organizers of the project in 2023 are Celuch Consulting (project leader), the Institute of Tourism and the Vistula School of Tourism and Hospitality in Warsaw, the Center for Experience Design in the Meetings and Tourism Industry of the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, and Meeting Professionals International Poland Chapter. The project was carried out under the auspices of the Events Industry Council and the MPI Foundation, as well as the Ministry of Sport and Tourism. The report was also supported by industry associations, convention bureaus operating in Poland, led by the Poland Convention Bureau of the Polish Tourist Organization, and industry media, which provided partnership (MeetingPlanner.pl) and numerous patronages. The analysis would not have been possible without the partnership of Z-Factor, which developed a research tool specifically for the study.
