Rising international rankings, a growing global market share, and a spectacular leap for Warsaw in the city standings – the latest report by the Union of International Associations (UIA) brings excellent news for the Polish MICE industry. For Mazovia, this is not only a source of pride, but above all a tangible business boost. The region’s prestige as a business and academic hub is growing, directly translating into higher hotel occupancy rates, the expansion of catering and technical services, and increased revenues for local suppliers and tourist attractions.

Mazovia and Warsaw: The heart of the Polish MICE market
According to the 67th edition of the “International Meetings Statistics Report” published by the UIA in June/July, Poland moved up from 21st to 19th place globally. In 2025, our country hosted 156 international association meetings, securing a 2.8% global market share (up from 2.5% and 143 events in 2024). We outperformed destinations such as Denmark, Switzerland, and China, cementing our position as the clear leader in Central and Eastern Europe.
The main driver of this success is Warsaw, which demonstrated impressive growth dynamics. The capital climbed 15 positions – from 48th place in 2024 (33 meetings) to 33rd place globally in 2025 with 47 international events. In doing so, Warsaw surpassed major global metropolises such as Dublin, Hong Kong, and Chicago, coming within a single spot of Berlin (32nd place).
It is also worth noting the presence of other venues in the region, such as Sulejówek, which shows that the potential for hosting intimate, unique hybrid events and boutique association meetings lies across the entire region.
Benefits for Mazovia’s local MICE ecosystem
Hosting international congresses and conferences that meet UIA criteria brings multifaceted benefits to Mazovia:
- Revenue growth and year-round stability: Association event delegates generate higher average daily expenditure than leisure tourists. Additionally, business events help mitigate seasonal fluctuations in the tourism sector.
- Infrastructure and service development: Strong ranking performance attracts investment in modern conference venues, hospitality, and technological infrastructure across Warsaw and surrounding counties.
- Brand equity enhancement: A presence among global top performers builds Mazovia’s image as a modern, safe, and highly accessible European business hub.
- Knowledge transfer and academic growth: Every international congress hosted in the region creates opportunities to foster business-academic relationships for local universities, research institutes, and enterprises.
Stable growth and future prospects
The strong fundamentals of the Polish meetings sector are further confirmed by the UIA 20-year cumulative ranking (covering 2006–2025), where Poland holds a solid 23rd position globally with a total of 3,088 meetings.
Warsaw’s dynamic trajectory and Poland’s stable standing in Europe demonstrate that consistent collaboration between Convention Bureaux, venues, PCOs/DMCs, and regional authorities yields tangible results. Mazovia is becoming the natural choice for international organizations seeking professional partners and compelling destinations for their events.
